How the InBody technology works.

The InBody uses Direct Segmental Multi-frequency Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (DSM-BIA). You stand on the device and hold the hand sensors while it sends safe, low-level electrical currents through your body. Because muscle, fat and water resist these currents differently, it calculates the volume of each tissue type. It measures five segments, each arm, each leg and your trunk, without relying on generic age or gender estimates.

The InBody is widely considered one of the most accurate bioelectrical impedance analyzers available. It has been validated against gold-standard methods like DEXA scans and uses direct segmental measurements rather than generic population averages.

Test on an empty stomach, ideally before you exercise for the day. Be well hydrated, and avoid caffeine or alcohol right before your appointment. You will need to remove your shoes and socks.
